"It Follows" is about an 'evil' which takes on the shape of a person that follows it's victim until killing them. It's incredibly simple premise is only slightly twisted by the fact that you get followed only when you have sex with someone who is being followed and who thus passes it on. The person who passes it on is safe until the person they passed it on to gets killed, and then they again become the sought after target.
Our main protagonist is Jay, a young woman who unwittingly contracts the curse. Her friends and sister stay by her side while she tries to avoid the inevitable reality of death.
I am not a fan of horror, but what drew me to the film was it's art house quality. It utilizes quotes from Dostoevsky's "The Idiot" to strengthen it's existential premise, and further compliments it with lyrical photography and a dread pulsing score.
While the nature of sex, death and STD's can easily become after viewing discussion points, the movie is simple enough to entertain on a visceral level.
Highly Recommended, not only for fan's of the genre, but general movie lovers.
