"Cinderella" (2015) by Allen Pinney
Greetings! Allen here with my quick review of Walt Disney's 'Cinderella' and the new animated short 'Frozen Fever'.
FF is great for 'Frozen' fans and it's very entertaining for the kiddos. All the major characters are back as well as the actors that voiced them. There is a new song by the original film's writing team, it's good but not nearly the ear worm "Let It Go" is (Thank the maker!).
'Frozen Fever' gets a "B"
I will admit that I was very skeptical of Cinderella's chances of success. I am happy to say I was proven wrong. Directed by Kenneth Branagh the film is in very capable hands. It is headlined by Downton Abbey's Lily James (yes, she's wonderful) and the cast as a whole is terrific.
The film relies heavily on it's animated predecessor but forgoes the musical numbers in favor of character growth and some really solid storytelling.
The movie skews more toward tweens and up, but the kiddos are not forgotten as they are treated to cute animal friends and some great comic moments.
I do plan to write more later (a lot of stuff flying around in my head right now), but for now...
